About Nexus Academy

Nexus Academy is Pakistan’s first and only A Level institution built entirely around A Level Law, not as one subject among many, but as the core identity, philosophy, and purpose of the entire college. Created under the leadership of Directors Muhammad Zaman Khan and Muhammad Shahrukh Malik, Nexus Academy represents a bold reimagining of what A Level education can be when a single discipline is pursued with absolute focus, academic depth, and institutional commitment.

The A Level Law program at Nexus Academy is taught with expanded detail, depth, and conceptual clarity, ensuring mastery of each module.

English Legal System (ELS)

The foundation of all legal understanding. Students master:

  • Court structures and hierarchies
  • Judicial roles, independence, and appointment
  • Sources of law: case law, legislation, delegated legislation
  • Precedent, ratio decidendi, and obiter dicta
  • Statutory interpretation and judicial reasoning
  • Legal professions and the workings of legal institutions

Criminal Law

A deep dive into crime, punishment, and moral responsibility. Students analyze:

  • Actus reus and mens rea in detail
  • Coherence of criminal liability
  • General defences (insanity, intoxication, duress, automatism, self-defence)
  • Homicide (murder, manslaughter)
  • Non-fatal offences and moral culpability
  • Concepts of risk, intention, recklessness, and negligence

We train students to evaluate criminal cases with precision, logic, and ethical awareness.

Law of Tort

Understanding civil wrongs, liability, and repairing harm. Students learn:

  • Negligence in its full structure: duty, breach, causation, remoteness
  • Liability for economic loss
  • Occupiers’ liability
  • Vicarious liability and policy considerations
  • Defences and remedies
  • How courts balance risk, responsibility, and fairness

Tort allows students to develop structured legal reasoning applicable to all branches of law.

Contract Law

The law that governs agreements and relationships in society. Students study:

  • Formation: offer, acceptance, consideration, intention
  • Terms: express, implied, representations
  • Vitiating factors: misrepresentation, mistake, duress, undue influence
  • Breach and remedies
  • Real-world application of commercial reasoning

This develops analytical clarity applicable to business, commerce, and corporate law.

Director

Muhammad Zaman Khan

Muhammad Zaman Khan is a distinguished lawyer, educator, and policy leader with years of experience training the next generation of lawyers, academics, and changemakers. A graduate of the University of London, he earned his Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Washington University in St. Louis, USA on a Dean’s Merit Scholarship, where he made history as the first South Asian and Muslim elected as President of the university.

As Director of the Centre for Law, Justice & Policy (CLJP) at Denning Law School, Mr. Khan combines academic leadership with practical policy engagement. He has worked on projects with the UN, ICRC, and the Sindh Human Rights Commission. At Denning, he serves as Professor of Law, teaching International Law and Jurisprudence, mentoring thousands of young lawyers.

Global Visionary: Jury member for the Global Undergraduate Awards (Law Category), often referred to as the “Junior Nobel Prize”.

M. Shahrukh Malik

M. Shahrukh Malik is a graduate of the University of London, where he earned his Bachelor of Laws degree. He began his career at MCA Law Associates but soon discovered his true passion for teaching. He is now an esteemed Faculty Member at Denning Law School, teaching Criminal, Contract, Tort, and Company Law.

Mr. Shahrukh is widely recognized for his innovative teaching methodology, exceptional clarity, and ability to simplify complex legal principles. With over five years of teaching experience and more than 1,000 students taught, hundreds have scored distinctions and A’s under his mentorship. He is praised for nurturing analytical thinking and inspiring academic curiosity.
